What garden vegetables are useful in the kitchen and the plant doesn't take up a lot of space? I am looking for a garden vegetable that is commonly used in food and doesn't take up large amounts of room. I don't have a lot of space cleared for gardening at this point, but I am working to expand it. Also, I'd like a vegetable that is known for being abundant so maybe I could share with the family/neighbors. For the last 3 years or so, I have done pumpkins, zuchinni( I have no idea how to spell that) and melons. But, this was a huge mistake in my case because the vines crawled all over the place- and cleaning up all that in the fall wasn't exactly a trip to the beach, either. I have grown tomatoes in recent years, also- and have had a good turnout every time. I realize they don't take up a lot of room, but I'm looking for something different. And I am thinking to stay away from herbs, too- knowing the way I am I wouldn't be able to tell them apart form weeds! What kind of vegetables do you recommend?

How can i test the vegetables for the pressence of V& M's? I know that i can test the water that the vegetables boil in for the pressence of V & M's but theres no water to test for the steamed vegetables. Sorry if this is confusing, if anyone know's about any of this, please help. Thank you :)

Are frozen vegetables (specificlaly birdseye steamfresh vegetables) as nutritious as fresh vegetables? I take my fitness health and diet very seriously, I try to eat plenty of fruit and vegetables every day and I buy fresh wherever possible but sometimes frozen vegetables are more convenient because they have a longer shelf life and I can buy them in bulk and not have to go shopping every 2-3 days. My 2 weightlifting buddies who are also very diet concious disagree on which one is the most nutitios in terms of vitamins and fibre and other good things. One of them insists that frozen is better because the vitamins etc are "locked in" by the freezing process...effectively keeping the food fresher than something that hasnt been frozen....my other friend insists that the oposite is true. Any thoughts on this?
why is it better to steam vegetables than to boil them in water? which one of following is true statement? steamed vegetables are more rigid and provide more fiber than boiled vegetables or vegetables lose their flavor when immersed in water or boiled vegetables contain more fat than steamed vegetables or steamed vegetables retain water-soluble vitamins that boiled vegetables do not also;cooking a hamburger in a frying pan would be an example of what type of heat? radiation or conduction or convection or none of these
Is Frozen vegetable is good for making my babies food?Or fresh vegetables are best?I nd to cook for my 6 mth? I am thinking to cook food for my babies with vegetables.but i am thinking which one should i use?bcz in this busy life, buy fresh vegetables, cut them, wash them....these r time consuming. If i use the frozen vegetables, which r sold in most of the shops, will they be nutrious for my baby?my baby is 6 months old
Are root vegetables hard on your digestive system? I was talking with my cousins yesterday about replacing meat and they said that its more expensive to buy all vegetables than to mix vegetables with meat. I disagreed saying you could buy root vegetables and they said root vegetables were hard on ur digestive tract. Was wondering how much truth there is to that.
I hate vegetables with a passion? and every time i have some i either vomit or feel like i am about to vomit. The only vegetable i can stand is tomato in ketchup form and i even dislike french fries and potato chips but i eat them for the fact they are vegetables and i don't throw up from them. I used to have to take a vitamin when i was younger but the doctor said for some reason i didn't need it anymore. So what exactly do vegetables do for a persons body? I already am extremely healthy in all aspects of my physical life, so do i really need to eat the recommended amount of vegetables per day for a person? i mean that i vomit because the flavor is so revolting that even when i try to not smell or taste it i still vomit
Good/Bad fruits/Vegetables? Fruits and Vegetables should be a huge part of our diet, I know this. But are there any fruits/vegetables that we should stay away from? And why?
What are good vegetables or vegetable soups for people who hate veggies? I need to eat more vegetables, so maybe I can bathe it in a soup to drown out the taste. Does anyone know of any quick and easy veggie soups to make, or even recommendations on eating raw vegetables for those of us that don't really like the bitter taste of vegetables?

Because everyone’s digestive system is different, this diet will affect everyone differently.
Rabbit Vegetables? I got a new rabbit about a week ago, we got her from a local pet store, she's around 3-4 months old (the people there weren't sure) I've read tons of stuff on the internet about rabbits, and everything I read suggests i should be feeding her green leafy vegetables in favour of pellets. The problem is, my rabbit won't eat ANY of the vegetables or fruits i give her. I've tried peppers, basil, carrots, celery, and even a bit of banana. She won't even try them, she seems afraid of them. she runs away whenever i even get close to her with one. She's sniffed a few of them, but then she turns away in disgust. She's still a little skittish, but she seems to be pretty comfortable with me so far. How can i get her to try the vegetables and eat them, i'm worried about her health :( HELP!
Everytime I eat vegetables I vomit it out!? Ok so everytime I like put a leafy vegetable in my mouth i just vomit like 3 min after that. Do goldfish eat vegetables? I have heard that you can feed goldfish lettuce, frozen peas and apples. Can you feed them these vegetables/fruits once in a while, when you normally feed your fish, fish flakes. IF they do eat vegetables, do you just cut them into small pieces and put them into the tank? Or do you wait till they dry? PLease answer my questions!!!! Can you feed fish vegetables and fruits, even when you feed them normal fish flakes? How do you feed the vegetable/fruits to them? Thanks
Vitamins instead of vegetables, etc? Where I live, vegetables aren't exactly fresh and are very hard to get. When we do buy vegetables, my family is large, that the vegetables and fruits are gone in the next two days. So are vitamins a good substitute for vegetables and fruits? If not, any other suggestions?
What vegetables come out best in a food steamer? I just got a new food steamer and I'm so excited. I just don't know what comes out best in it though, so I need to get some stuff. I like these vegetables: broccoli, carrots, peas, lima beans, potatoes, corn, green beans. I don't really like but can eat these vegetables: brussel sprouts, sweet peppers, celery, zucchini, squash. So let me know which veggies taste best in food steamers, and any tips for cooking them (like herbs or oils or other toppings). Oh yeah, what kind of potatoes are good for steaming? I'd like the healthiest kind, are those small red potatoes good for you cuz I like them. Any other vegetables that I didn't list, feel free to add if they come out good, I'm open to trying new things.
Gourmet vegetables? It seems some restaurants, Earls for those who are familiar with this one, seem to make some amazing side orders of cooked vegetables that they serve with their meals. They are sweet, very juicy, with a touch of butter. Vegetables they serve include carrots, asparagus, and beets. Beets are one thing I don't eat....unless of course it is at this restaurant. Would anyone have a recipe on how to sautee vegetables to get that gourmet taste.

If you need 5 fruits and vegetables a day are you saying you need 5 fruits and 5 vegetables? Or just 5 total? I know this is a dumb question, but if all the health agencies are saying you need 5 fruits and vegetables a day to keep yourself healthy, are we saying 5 fruits and 5 vegetables per day or just 5 fruits OR vegetables? (e.g 3 vegetables and 2 fruits). Do you know a website that has a good breakdown of what consists of a serving of fruit and vegetables? For example, if I were to eat lettuce, I know I am not expected to eat a whole head of lettuce to get one serving . . .
why do vegetables wrapped with banana leaves remains fresh longer? most of the vegetables which are wrapped by banana leaves remains fresh for a longer period as compaired to those other green leaves vegetables which are wrapped by other leaves cannot keep fresh. Or in other words green vegetables wrapped by papers or other plastics too cannot keep it fresh for long and so would like to know, if it is because of presence of som organism in banana leaves please comment. thank you.
Vitamins or vegetables? I hate eating vegetables no matter how you prepare them. So instead, I take a few multivitamins and fiber supplements and drink plenty of water throughout the day. I've heard from people that vitamins are no substitute for vegetables, (because of absorption etc) but no one has ever been able to convince me of this. Does anyone know of good, legitimate research studies that have documented that vegetables are superior to vitamins? Can you show me some proof, not just opinion? Thanks
Guide for what fruits and vegetables are in season when? When I lived in California, I always visited the weekly Farmer's Markets because they always had the freshest and best fruits and vegetables that were in season. Is there any sort of a guide, either online at a website somewhere or in a book, as to finding out what fruits and vegetables are ripe and in season during what months? I now live in Colorado and the Farmers Markets are far and few between and I do not have a green thumb, nor do I ever really know what fresh fruits and vegetables are in season. Thanks in advance for your help.
