What is a good vitamin regimen for a healthy woman in her late 20's? With all the different reports of which vitamins and supplements that are good for promoting health and longevity, it gets a little confusing. I want to know what are the more important Vitamins and supplements that should be taken by a healthy woman, in her late 20's. Muti-vitamins are no good, they have low absorption rates and tend to be pretty useless as per my doctors opinion. I am already taking B-complex, and vitamin E, but I would like to add D, C and anything else that is important for women's health. So if someone can steer me in the right direction of which to take and when is best to take them, it would be appreciated. I wanted to add to this in case it was unclear. I work out regularly and eat very healthily already and have for some time so the only reason I asked the question is because I want to start taking precautions for the future, such as bone health etc. I have the bases pretty well covered but unfortunately, foods don't always carry the same benefits as the vitamins. Thanks for all the great advice but I was looking for more of a exact vitamin/regimen for someone already knowledgeable in nutrition and fitness. Thank you all though, Yahoo answers is such a great life tool!
What are good vitamin brands for an 18 year old male? I'm 18, on my break from the Marine Corps, and I haven't eaten healthy lately. I believe vitamins would help fill up my daily nutrients. I have heard that Flintstones vitamins stunt growth. Is that true? What are some good vitamin brands to take?
What vitamin deficiency would cause an overy high level of pyruvate in a patients blood and urine? Suppose you found an overly high level pyruvate in a patient's blood and urine. One possible cause is a genetic defect in the enzymes pyruvate dehydrogenase, but another plausible cause is a specific vitamin deficiency. Explain what vitamin might be deficient in the diet and why that would account for high levels of pyruvate to be excreted in the urine. How would you determine which explanation is correct?
how do you use vitamin c powder, vitamin e oil, or vinegar powder as a natural preservative? How much of these individually or together would you use in a recipe to preserve cookies? How dangerous is a Vitamin D deficiancy in a 6 month old baby? I only just now found out that I needed to be giving my breastfed daughter Vitamin D supplements. In addition to breastmilk she eats one meal of peas, green beans, or sweet potatoes each day. I will start giving her extra Vitamin D right away, but I am so scared that I've harmed her bone development for life since she probably hasn't gotten enough Vitamin D until now. Should I be worried? Is there anything I can do to make up for the last 6 months? Thanks!
What vitamin to take for a 15 year old male who is physically active? I am a physically active 15 year old male who wants to better my health by taking a multivitamin. What happens when Vitamin C is added to an iodine and starch solution? It's a grade 10 high school chemistry question :) As you may already know, an iodine and starch solution is an aqueous solution with a dark violet/black color. But when you add vitamin C to the solution, what happens? Can you provide a lengthy explanation for me? Tomorrow, I'm doing an experiment which tests the levels of vitamin C in different substances, but all I need to know for now is what will happen.

What is a good vitamin/supplement I can take before I workout for more energy? We all have "off" days when working out. I exercise regularly about 4-5 times a week. However, the problem I have is finding the energy. I have really good days when I can run for 30 plus minutes and then I have days when I can't run for no more than 10 minutes. What is the best vitamin e oil? Does it really work as well as people say it does? I had a lot of questions about reducing/lightening some acne scars and a few stretch marks. All the answers pointed to vitamin e oil or cocoa butter or even both (also strivectin but you have to apply that 3 times a day and it's costly). I was wondering what brands might work best and where to get them? Any tips on how often to apply or other tricks you might have would be great too. Thanks!
Is it bad if you drink too much vitamin water? I have been trying to gain a little weight in a healthy way. I have my breakfast, lunch and dinner. I have been drinking vitamin water, 2 bottles a day for 5 days a week. I was just concern if too much Vitamin water can cause any problems to my body.
What are the benefits of vitamin e cream? I have acne scars and am DESPERATE to fade them. I have tried a ridiculous amount of things – for the last 4–5 months I’ve been adding rosehip oil to my moisturizer each night, but it’s not helping! Does vitamin e do anything? Or does anyone have other remedies? Keep in mind I’m a broke student so I’m on a budget. The scars are like redish-purplish marks.
How do we get vitamin d from the sun? I don't think the sun is shooting out particles of vitamin d so I guess the vitamin in produced in our skin cells, triggered by the absorption of the UV. Is that right or does the sun actually give off vitamin d?
What is the best vitamin for me to take? I am 22, and I had a baby about 6 months ago. How long does it take the body to flush excess vitamin A? I've been taking supplements of 25,000 IU of Vitamin A (in fish liver oil and retinyl palmitate form) for three weeks after someone on an acne board recommended supplementation as a treatment for cystic acne. But I recently became aware of the dangers of Vitamin A toxicity and am quite worried, as I may start trying to conceive in a couple of months. If I discontinue the dosage immediately, how soon will my body flush itself of the excess vitamin A? How soon will it be safe for me to consider pregnancy?
How much and how often should i apply vitamin e oil to my scars? Within the past 7 to 8 months I've had carpal tunnel surgery on my left and right hands. These surgeries have left me with two gnarley scars [one on each palm]. I've read on numerous sites that vitamin e oil will help to fade and even help to make scars disappear. But I don't know how much or how often to apply it. If you find a reliable site please tell me. Thanks!

What time of day should one take a daily vitamin? I usually take my daily vitamin in the morning. I have had several people tell that taking vitamins in the afternoon/evening is more beneficial towards the body's absorption. Any insight from those in the health/nutrition field would be much appreciated!
How effective is a vitamin B complex in prevention of miscarriage? They say to take a vitamin B complex and folic acid when trying to get pregnant and to continue after pregnant and this helps in the prevention of miscarriage. Is this true? How effective is it? Also, where can I get progesterone cream? Does it need to be prescribed? thanks!

How come everytime I start taking a daily multiple vitamin I always get a cold sore? It doesn't matter what brand of vitamin I take, or what time of day I take them! They always cause me to get a cold sore. Now that I have been diagnosed with acid reflex, my doctor suggested that I take a multivitamin because the medicine he prescribed for reflux actually blocks the absorption of B vitamins. I usually get a cold sore within 2 to 3 days of taking a multivitamin.
Vitamin C and yellow pee? This is a random question... I know that when you take vitamin c suppliments and your body doesn't need all of the vitamin it is discarded in your urine. Why is it bright yellow? I have never taken a multivitamin or vitamin c without having bright yellow pee. Does this mean that I have enough vitamin c in my diet? It seems strange that this should be so, because although I usually eat lots of fruits and vegtables I sometimes do not, and regardless of the amount of vitamin c in my diet I always have bright yellow pee if I take a multivitamin. Too much vitamin C is also not a good thing. Should I try to find a multivitamin without vitamin c in it, since my body abvious thinks I don't need and more vitamin c than it already has.
What could be the cause of a very low Vitamin D level in recent blood work? I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, and I am 27 (I have had it since the age of 7). My recent blood work just came back showing very low Vitamin D levels, even though they were normal 3 months ago. I have to go on Vitamin D treatments for the next 16 weeks. I am just nervous because I have not been feeling good lately and I don't know if there could be something else going on. Can anyone help with some insight?
How do I give liquid Vitamin D to my baby? I just gave a birth to my beautiful daughter. Her pediatrician gave me a bottle of liquid Vitamin D since I breastfeed exclusively. I tried to give it to my daughter, but she didn't take it at all. I heard that I should mix the vitamin with my milk, but there is a good amount of vitamin that I have to give, and I can pump so much every time. I'm also afraid that she will get used to the bottle and won't eat from my breast any more. I'm hoping to get good answers from breastfeeding moms. Thanks.
Vitamin B~12 how does this help you drop pounds and gain energy? I recently started drinking vitamin water, loved it until I realized each bottle has 24 grams of sugar in a 20 oz bottle. I noticed this water too has B~12 in it. How can I get B~12 in a healthier way, and what does it actually do for your body? I felt a boost when drinking this water hate that it had soo much sugar.
What is the difference between Vitamin B12 and B Complex? What is the difference between Vitamin B12 & B complex? Do I need both?? I'm looking at the bottle of my B Complex and it doesn't list B12 but it lists B6. Should I take both a vitamin b12 and b complex every day? I'm a vegetarian woman and heard that Vitamin b12 is good to prevent anemia. I also take iron supplements.
What vitamin combination should I use for healthy hair and hair growth? I am taking Nourish vitamins by Healthy Hair Plus (http://www.healthyhairplus.com). These are taken twice a day and contain 40 mg Niacin, 400 mg folic acid, 6mg vitamin B-12, 600 mcg Botin, 92 mg Panthonenic acid, 30 mg chlorophyll, 100 mg iodine, 20 mg zinc oxide, 10 mg manganese gluconate, 30 mg PABA, and 4 mg of each of the essential amino acids. I have been advised to take Biotin, which I bought in a bottle with 1,000 mcg in each vitamin capsule, and it says to take one per day. I have also been advised to take a Vitamin-B Complex vitamin daily. Someone said that prenatal vitamins are great for hair growth. I take a multivitamin daily as well. I have some vitamins from hairtopia (http://www.hairboutique.com), too, but I have replaced them with the vitamins from healthy hair plus. I fear that I might be taking too many vitamins and I would like to know what would be the most beneficial combination for healthy hair!!!!!!
Too much Vitamin A while pregnant? So I recently read about the problems with having too much Vitamin A (in its fake form) while pregnant, and now I'm worried I've been eating too much Vitamin A. First of all, my vitamin contains 2700 I.U. of Vitamin A in the form of Vitamin A Palmitate. Then I also eat Pop Tarts, which have 10% of the D.V for Vitamin A in the form of Vitamin A Palmitate and also I ate cream cheese which has 6% of the D.V for Vitamin A in the form of Vitamin A Palmitate. I eat about 2 Pop Tarts a day and I just finished off the cream cheese which had about 2-4 servings left. Now I'm worried I could have eaten too much! How much is too much? Do you think that it'll be ok?
Vitamin A vs. Beta Carotene during pregnancy? Hi, I was advised not to take a vitamin A supplement in my prenatal vitamin. I looked up things about beta carotene and it says that it's completely safe form of vitamin A w/out the scare of birth defects. If I get a supplement with vitamin a as 100% beta-carotene then can I still get a healthy serving of natural vitamin A such as lettuce, spinach, broccoli and other veggies without being scared of an overdose of vitamin A or a scare of birth defects.....I've look for some w/out vitamin A but I can't find any...Also, if anyone knows of any really good prenatals then let me know....the only stores I live around are w'greens, wal-mart, GNC, Target.
Vitamin A question...Again.? I am still confused about how to be safe with my vitamin A intake. a) how do I know whether the vitamin A in my prenatal vitamins (natatab fa) is betacarotene...they were prescribed to me less than a year ago. b) they contain 4,000 IU vitamin A, so if I continue to take them what sort of foods should I avoid to keep from going over the 10,000 IU daily limit. I know spinach says it contains 6,000 IU per serving so does that mean that I cant eat spinach. How careful should I be? c) I dont see my doctor for another couple of weeks so I need to know how to be safe in the meantime. I dont want to stop taking my vitamins and I dont want to take in too much vitamin A either. By the way, these are the vitamins the same doctor prescribed me last time I was pregnant. Thank you so much for your input.

Vitamin B complex and Multi Vitamin? I have been on the Birth Control pill for 3 years, and recently i found out that the pill can cause a vitamin b defficiency. I got a Super B-complex supplement and a multi vitamin, (which also contains some vitamin b). Should i cut out the b-complex and just stick with the multi vitamin- and just have one or the other? Are there any negative effects of too much vitamin b? Thanks.
VITAMINS! Can anyone recommend good vitamin manufacturers? Hi, so obviously we all know Holland and Barrett, but does anyone have any specific recommendations for vitamin manufacturers? I know there's a lot of difference - there are such things as good vitamins and bad vitamins in terms of how they're produced... it affects the absorption of the vitamin etc. What I don't know are alternative vitamin makers... please help!

Ive been takeing vitamin tablets for quite some time now and was wondering if anybody can help me with some questions i have about vitamins. 1. do a-z multi vitamin tablets help us alot or just a little? 2. Why is Vitamin B not between Vitamin A and C? So I'm looking at the back of my centrum vitamins container and I notice that in the supplement facts goes: Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, and Vitamin K... Just wondering why Vitamin B wasn't inserted between A and C. Is it because there are several B's?
vitamin after quitting cigarette? Hi, What vitamins should i take after quitting cigarette? I heard Vitamin C and B could do good for quitter. There is so many different vitamin B which one should i get? or should i get B Complex? Can i take Vitamin C [1000mg] and Vitamin B together? Should i just buy a multi-vitamin for daily use instead? is that enough? Thank you. I found the following information: The levels of the nutrients such as the essential B vitamins and the vitamin C are often depleted in smokers and supplements must be taken to correct this deficiency of nutrients within the body. Anxiety levels are reduced by supplements of the vitamin B complex-in addition the supplement will also promotes healthy nerves and recovery from cellular injury. Use the compound called niacinamide, which is another supplemental form of the B vitamin niacin of feeling of anxiety persists even following initial supplementation. Excess free radicals flowing around in the body are cleared up by the antioxidant actions of the vitamin C. These free radicals are produced in the body by cigarette smoke in large amounts-the use of the supplements will ease cravings for tobacco and reduce other withdrawal symptoms which can come about in the person. Quoted http://www.herbs2000.com/disorders/smoking.htm niacinamide is also nicotinamide
Vitamin Water? Is it good to have a vitamin water daily even if you are taking a multivitamin? I know certain vitamins will get flushed out if I take in too many. I just don't want to hurt myself over time. Seems stupid, but I'm sure overexposure to certain vitamins overtime can be damaging. One more thing, does anyone here know which vitamin waters have vitamins derived from fish or any other animal in them, and what the vitamins are? Thank you.
Vitamin break down and chemical relation ships? I have a very vague understanding of how vitamins and minerals break down and how more complex, natural minerals and vitamins work. What i'm wondering, is, Can I get an explanation of the vitamin relationships that occure naturally in fruit? For example this vitamin in an orange works with that vitamin also in the orangs and others, so they have a relationship dynamic that is complex and more beneficial than the same vitamins that are synthetically produced. I would really like to understand how this works and how my body recieves and processes the natural complex relationships better than synthetic or pill form. I hope that makes sense =P
Vitamin Water? Instead of 2 cans of soda a day I have been just having one bottle of vitamin water a day. I keep hearing that soda is better for you than vitamin water but it just does not make any sense to me. There are 2.5 servings in the water 50 calories, no fat, no sodium, 13 carbs 13 sugars and then vitamins b3 b6 b12 b5 and vitamin c. Can someone explain why drinking vitamin water is worse for you than drinking soda. I can see that it is worse than water, but I drink water to and it looks like it is better to me than the canned juice.
Vitamin doseage after Gastric Bypass? I had Gastric Bypass 26 mo. ago & my Dr. has me taking 24 vitamins a day, I do not absorb things the way I did before surgery so I need to take more vitamins than someone that has not had the surgery. My Dr. does not know exactly what vitamins/doses I should take, just whatever my tests show me low on. I think I am taking WAY to many, but I do not know how to figure out the correct dose...I have read lots of vitamin books & according to them I am taking about 8,000 vitamins LESS than I should take...lol
Vitamin supplements that start metabolism? Do vitamins start your metabolism? I take a B complex vitamin, flaxseed oil and high potency vitamin D. I am wondering because I have a hard time eating breakfast and was curious if the vitamins alone would kick start my metabolism in the morning? I CAN eat breakfast, but with kids, I usually forget. I also drink coffee an water in the morning. Any information you have on vitamins/ metabolism/ diet/ weightloss/ energy would be great! Thanks!

Vitamin Energy v. other Energy Drinks? I have been drinking Vitamin Water for a few years now and I like it. Somedays I try to avoid pop and drink the Vitamin Water instead...now they're making Vitamin Energy which basically tastes the same as Vitamin Water but with slight carbonation. I haven't tried an other energy drinks (Monster, Red Bull, etc) because the serious amount of sugar and caffeine in them seems too much. I just want a little boost...does anyone know a comparison between Glaceau's new Vitamin Energy and typical energy drinks? Sugar, caffeine, etc? And what of this "natural" caffeine that it claims to have? Any insight is welcome. Thanks:)
VITAMIN Pills??????? Ok, So I bought these vitamin pills (Centrum Multi-Vitamin). I am a college student who is living on campus, and I just absolutely hate the food options. So I keep eating the same thing everyday...Because of this I am not getting the right vitamins, and I am noticing changes in my body...For example, I have noticed that my nails are changing color..(they are getting brown streaks in them....it's quite unattractive)...what I want to know is 1. If there is some sort of trick to taking pills. I've tried putting the pill in my mouth and taking a big gulp of water. Haven't had any luck with that...usually when I have to take pills I crush the pill and mix it in my juice...But these pills taste and smell really bad 2. Do any of you guys take vitamins? 3. If you do, which one and does it work? 4. Is there a difference between chewable vitamins and non- chewable..as in, does one work faster that the other (refering to the time that it takes to actually see a difference) Thank You...
vitamin A good or vitamin e? is vitamin A better than vitamin E? vitamin e is only for scars. i dont kno exactly if it really gives results..vitamin A is for lots of stuff including wrinkles and the scar. is that true? . i dont kno which one is good. or if they give any results?
Excess Vitamin C? Every morning i have a multivitaqmin. This conains 100% RDA of a lot of things INCLUDING 100% Vitamin C. However, i then also have TWO vitamin C tablets, each of which contain 100% Vitamin C RDA. I also drink lots of pure orange juice every day which is full of vitamin C. I have asked my mum why i have vitamin C tablets when with the multivitamin tablet and drinks alone i am over my RDA but she said i should anyway because it wont do me anybad, it will just pass out of my body. In this case i thought there would be no point having excess if it just passes out of my body. Could somebody tell me if there are any negative affects of having about 4x the RDA of vitamin C?

vitamin supplements for teens? to improve my performance in school i wanted to take some vitamin supplements i was planning on taking magnesium 150 mg vitamin E 250 IU Vitamin C 250 mg B1 (Thiamine) 15 mg B2 (Riboflavin) 10 mg B6 (Pyridamine) 5 mg Folic Acid 200 micrograms B12 - 50 micrograms If it would help I have my average day's food below: B 1 Bowl Cheerios, 2 egg whites L 2 PBJ sandwiches, nuts, yogurt S Apple or bannana, nuts D Meat (I usually have 2 1/2 card decks worth), salad, carrots, potatoes I was going to take a regular centrum multivitamin along with that (but if you compare the numbers the multivitamin in insignificant). I checked some statistics on the safety threshhold of these vitamins (the level where there have been no reputable reported cases of harm) and the amounts I have are significantly below). Is taking a lot of certain vitamins in proportion to others bad (would that cause an imbalance)? Also, should I alter any of the amounts? How often should I take them
Vitamin intake/good or bad ?? if i want to be healthy, is it ok to take or is it worth taking vitamins even if i am eating most of the right foods which contain the same vitamins. also will i still get the same benefit from vitamins if i take every other day. if i do it both the natural way and the vitamin way will i have a higher chance of getting too much vitamins and be at risk with poisoning etc.
Vitamin E and Vitamin C? I try to look after my health and skin and take vitamins daily. For my skin, I apply pure vitamin E oil and use this one: http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/pages/product_detail.asp?pid=46&xs=721FC6795745447AA4E1F49D01B6C23A Is it good for me to be using this on my body and hands? I've also heard that if I combine it with Vitamin C, it could be even better for my skin. Should I also be applying a vitamin C cream or oil? How often?
Confusion over Vitamin D production...? A posted a question much earlier about how do vegans in northernly climates get enough vitamin D? Almost all answers assumed I don't know about norther climates and there is enough sunshine in northern climates all year long to produce vitamin D. I'm Canadian. Length of days through out the year, intensity of sunshine and amount of skin exposed is not always enough for sufficient vitamin D production. Season, geographic latitude, time of day, cloud cover, smog, and sunscreen affect UV ray exposure and vitamin D synthesis. Sunlight exposure from November through February in Boston is insufficient to produce significant vitamin D synthesis in the skin. http://dietary-supplements.info.nih.gov/factsheets/vitamind.asp In Canada, vitamin D synthesis in the skin is absent during the winter months (October to March), http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/fn-an/food-guide-aliment/context/evid-fond/vita_d_e.html How do vegans in northern climates get enough vitamin D without suppl from animal sources? Thanks Katie! That site is very good! I'm glad to know that there are non-animal source supplements for vegans in northern climates who might need it. Once I found out how much vitamin D comes from pig hide, then started to look at everything that is fortified with vitamin D in grocery stores (at least here) it made me wonder... But obviously vegans can be healthy here, so I interested to know how they did it! Thanks again!
Vitamin B -- Lite Beer, toasted bread? 1. Is it correct that 'high yeast content" and/ or "dark" beer contain a significant amount of vitamin B? 2. Does "natural goodness" rye bread also contain a significant amount of vitamin B? (My definition of "natural goodness" = not bleached, extraction processed.) 3. Do the processes of producing "lite beers" and "alcohol free beer", destroy the vitamin B in either the yeast and/ or the beer itself? 4. Does a breakfast toaster destroy the vitamin B in rye bread. 5. Do beer and rye bread provide significant levels of vitamin B12? (This in comparison to read meat, eggs and milk products)
OH NO Vitamin water! its actually healthy and doesnt have 300 calories a bottle, its 150ish? get over it people, everything has calories, the recommended amount is 2000 a day average, the actual formula is ur body weight multiplied by 15, example 140lbs times 15, that person needs 2100 est to maintain there weight. 2100-150 is 1950 left for whatever you want... UV rays degrade vitamins is another argument, well so what, if vitamins are in another container and a uv ray touches it the same thing will happen Distilled water is what is added to vitamin water and absorbs vitamins and supposably takes them away from ur body. Does anyone know what distilled water is, it is water that is just H2O, no other minerals, not a spec of dust included. So now, lets think, if its added to vitamins and sugar, it is no longer distilled. cuz stuff is with it. Orange juice does not have more vitamins, have u actually read the label? most have a list about 6 or more vitamins with one over 100% and others 25%. its not too much ur body isnt perfect and doesnt absorb everything it intake noroom
Are Vitamin-E creams a rip-off? Any skin people? HELP!!!! 5+ Points? Okay so a couple of days ago i asked if vitamin-e creams really work or if you gotta buy the actual vitamin-e pills and take em orally. The one i bought was about 15 bucks from a vitamin shop and you guys said that most of these creams contain other oils n it's a waste of money. so I got like no one to ask but if anybody knows or have any knowledge about this stuff please just tell me. {30,000 units of vitamin-E in a base containing 2,000 units of vitamin-A, 2,000 units of vitamin-D and aloe vera gel.} (the jar is 2.2 ounces) The name of the brand is "Nature's Plus" the energy supplements.
vitamin e supplement once a week? i heard that taking vitamin e is good for your skin, and i'm thinking about taking beta-carotene to get some vitamin a. but 400 IU of vitamin 3 is a lot more than the recommended dose, and since vitamin e is fat soluble i could get very sick if i take this stuff daily. so my question is, should i only take it once a week, to make sure i don't build up? or even longer? or not take it at all. i dont eat a lot of vegetables or fruits so i may need this, and some others should i just get centrium or some multi vitamin (i'm mainly taking this to see if it helps with my cystic acne)
Vitamins from veg & fruits and vitamin supplement? I ever read some articles saying that if we want to have vitanins from veg & fruit, it's recommended to eat fresh ? some say veg & juice should not be leave on the table for more than 15 mins since vitamins would have gone? if it's true, then another choice is vitamin supplement? real veg & fruits are truely made in from of small tablets? how to make sure that vitamin supplement is really from nature? since the price of vitamin supplement is quite high in the market.
Vitamin A in the form of Retinyl Acetate - Can it cause toxicity? I know that Vitamin A in the form of Beta-Carotene is safe, but what about Retinyl Acetate? Especially when taken with Accutane (Isotretinoin)? (In the multivitamin I'm taking, Vitamin A is in the form of both.) I'm wondering because I take multivitamin every day in addition to isotretinoin. I remember that the doctor said vitamins are fine, but I'd like to make sure because I've heard someone say that Vitamin A taken with Accutane may increase the possibility of side effects. Also, does Vitamin A toxicity cause abdominal pain? Any comment is appreciated!
Question about vitamin Pill? I have been taking vitamin for like 3 months .One days, i was browsing around this site that the amount of each type of vitamin you should consume is much higher (about 3-4) times with the amount the i get from the pills, for ex: you should take about 1000mg vitamin C daily, but one vitamin pill only contains 250 mg vitamin C, same thing for vitamin A,B,D.... They say on the bottle that take only 1 tablet a day. So should i get more vitamin from something else(food , juice...) or double dose .
Vitamin C? I know that it's okay to take more than 100% of vitamin C in a day and that it helps the immune system. But am I consuming too much vitamin C? I'm kinda sick right now (cold) and am eating cough drops with 100% of vitamin C in them along with drinking juices with vitamin C. I estimated my vitamin C intake for the day to be about 1,000% (or 600 mg), is this okay or should I try to scale back?
Vitamin C good forAnxiety and Depression? I took an herb called St. John's wort for depression. I'm not saying the herb doesn't work at all! But it did me no good. I started seeing results when I decided to start taking more vitamins. I noticed a HUGE difference after I started taking the Vitamin C capsules. It was Vitamin C with Rose hips. My mental concentration is better, I'm more relaxed and less irritable. Could I have been deficient of Vitamin C? Or is it just the effects of Vitamin C in general? These tablets are 1000mg tablets. I take one a day.
Vitamin Supplement Advice Please...? I am a 32 year old female. I am pretty sure I am healthy because I or my children hardly ever get sick. I love to take lots of viamins. They make me feel good and give me more energy. I don't get outside alot so not much activity but do tons of housework! Oh, and I eat really healthy (mostly home cooked food, low fat stuff. I'm not a fanatic and will eat junk sometimes but not generally). All info that I find online says if you eat a healthy diet then you do not need supplements. BUT, I love taking them and plan to keep on anyways. My question is does anyone here know enough to tell me how much is too much? Currently I am taking these daily: Vitamin C - 1000mg Vitamin E - 400 I.U. One B50 Vitamin A - 1250 I.U. Vitamin D - 135 I.U. Fish Oil - 1000mg Thats all of them. I would like to up my B50 to B100. I just want to make sure I'm not taking too much. Been taking this same mix of vitamins for about a year now. They don't seem to have any negative effects. Thanks for any answers!
Are vitamin supplements really necessary? My brother in law sells Amway vitamins and has become totally obsessed (brainwashed if you ask me) with the whole vitamin fad. I eat really well so I feel I don't need to take vitamin supplements. When I do, I end up peeing them out and therefore I must be getting my daily nutients in what I eat. He says that even though I eat well I still need to take supplements. I don't agree. Also, he went on about natural vs. synthetic vitamins. Really, even natural vitamins have been processed!! What's the scoop on all the vitamin hoopla anyway???
